About

The Brady past and present.

The Brady Centre welcomes visitors to the centre for Open House 2023, from 12 - 4pm on Saturday 16 September.

The Brady Centre first opened its doors as the Brady Girls Club and Settlement in June 1935. Designed by Ernest Joseph ( Messrs Joseph) architect and youth worker. The Brady Boys Club opened in April 1896 in Durward Street nearby, the Boys Club moved to join the Girls Club in 1960.

This is The Brady's first ever journey with Open House, giving us the opportunity to reveal its fascinating history and future.

There will be free family art activities in the Art Room with ATeam Arts Education, who have been working with Alexander McQueen design team to deliver their summer youth arts programme at the Centre.

See two exhibitions; the Brady Photographic Archive, Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as 'Rhythm of Images' showcasing painted textiles in celebration of South Asian dance.

Short film screenings include ' The Brady Clubs', 'The Battle of Brick Lane' and ‘Moving Language Forward'.

Drop in family art workshop, drawing and painting classes, dancing, singing and storytelling workshops.

Our secret garden is a tranquil space to enjoy a cup of tea, weather permitting!

Cafe Bite will be open all day.
