How do politics, art and architecture, affect the way we move? This choreogeographic walk-talk, takes in social art and social housing estates in relationship to class, new housing developments and political movements. It explores our external environment, including Henry Moore’s ‘Reclining Woman’, the Art Deco reliefs of Gilbert Bayes on Lambeth Fire Station, Kennington Park’s ‘Prince Consort Lodge’ and George Tinworth’s, Royal Doulton Factory mosaics.

We’ll discuss the demarcation of London’s boroughs by underground rivers and an example of landscape ‘Kettling’, in relation to the Chartist’s historic march down Kennington Road. Architecture includes Caruso St John’s ‘Newport Street Gallery' for Damien Hirst, Beaconsfield Gallery and the Cleaver Square conservation area.

The walk follows a ‘KAS’ route (Kennington, Kinaesthetic Arts & Science) – a voluntary, children’s walking project (please see Henry Moore photo above), based in en-route Hornby House, Kennington Park Estate.

This is a walk around exterior (not interior) landmarks, maintaining social distancing in 3, simultaneous groups of 6.
