Bloom Clerkenwell houses 18,100 sqm of wellness focused workspace including Ready to Work - tech-enhanced managed office space, landscaped roof terraces, an in-house gym, and amenity retail. The new commercial building for HB Reavis is situated over the Crossrail station at Farringdon West and has outstanding links with the city and beyond. The use of red terracotta is a reference to the adjacent transport infrastructure with the faience and aluminium giving Bloom a contemporary identity. The project is on course to achieve WELL Platinum, BREEAM Outstanding and has already achieved/been accredited WiredScore Platinum.

Bloom Clerkenwell has one of London’s highest office to terrace ratios at 11%, increasing London’s biodiversity and supporting clean air through extensive planting. Construction processes and materials were sustainable, and the building will be carbon zero in-operation via energy from solar photovoltaics, and responsible waste management and water consumption. In addition, Bloom facilitates sustainable travel, offering 243 bike spaces, bookable Bromptons and amenities accessed directly from the Cycle Superhighway and situated adjacent to Farringdon Station, connecting Crossrail, Thameslink and Underground lines. It is also technologically resilient, reflected in its Platinum Wired score, awarded for exceptional infrastructure and connectivity.

Festus joined John Robertson Architects in 1996 and became a Director in 2007. He has continuously played a leading role in the direction, development and output of the practice: helping JRA become one of the most respected and trusted architecture studios in the hugely competitive Central London market. Festus’ approach to architecture begins with the
emphasis that he places on maintaining consistency of the design concept from the large scale through to that of detail. This has led him to develop a rarelymatched expertise in construction techniques and consultant relations in order to repeatedly deliver buildings that answer complex and challenging architectural briefs across a range of sectors, including offices, education and residential. In particular, Festus’ understanding of design and energy use within
buildings has enabled JRA to deliver market-leading sustainability performance in both new-build and challenging retrofit projects. Festus also oversees the work of JRA’s workspace & fit-out team. Previous projects Festus has been Director in charge of highlight the breadth of his expertise and include British Land’s major refurbishment projects at 199
Bishopsgate and 39 Victoria Street, and the fit out of
the new headquarters for YUM!, a restaurant company in Woking. He led the design for the 65,000 squarefoot fit out of WeWork Spitalfields, providing a fun, engaging and inclusive workspace, complete with breakout areas, hot desks and private offices. He was Director in charge of the King’s College London new Strand Campus and Blackstone’s masterplan and
refurbishment for Devonshire Square in the City of London. Festus is an expert in sustainability and has an in-depth knowledge of the BREEAM benchmarking system and represents JRA as member of the UK Green Building Council.
Festus is presently director in charge of the monitoring architect role for Almacanter at Marble Arch Place and Farringdon West, ‘Bloom’ for HB Reavis.
