History

The Old Schoolhouse was built in 1848. It had a wing for the accommodation (now demolished) of the schoolteacher. It could accommodate up to 100 pupils in racked seating. It closed in 1934 and then functioned as an open-fronted shelter with a public toilet. It gradually became derelict until 1981 when it was refurbished becoming the headquarters of the Hornsey Historical Society.
