V22 have been offered an opportunity to provide a space for art and social activity on the existing Silvertown Quays site at Pontoon Dock in advance of the ongoing redevelopment planned. Our creative workspace will be built of bespoke flat-pack modular units with a shipping container aesthetic in a nod to the site's history. The units will be fully portable, and will provide and frame affordable workspace, interesting maker and show spaces, shops, community projects, exhibition spaces, food, drink and leisure spaces, and really beautiful – collaboratively built – gardens.
V22 Silvertown Studios and its creative programme will become part of the Greater London Authority’s vision for the Royal Docks as a new Cultural district. The site has beautiful views over the Royal Docks to the Millenium Mills and Silo D buildings. This is a chance to see part of London's dockland history as it is being developed.
Young London 2018
V22 is a multifaceted art organisation, with a shared ownership structure, which specialises in the collection of contemporary art, the production of exhibitions and events, the provision of artists’ studios, workspaces and artisans’ workshops at affordable rates, and the running of community libraries, community engagement and education programmes.
V22’s Young London series of exhibitions, not only brings together a number of these facets, but also addresses an important gap in the city’s exhibition circuit, in particular the promotion of emerging artists by providing a large platform to present work. The series has made an important contribution, not only to the promotion and promulgation of London’s fine art zeitgeist, but also to its assessment and critique.
Young London 2018 starts in September at V22 Silvertown Studios.
The opening weekend of Young London 2018 coincides with Open House London weekend.
