Tour

A walk between two sites commemorating tragic events in South London's post Windrush Black History. Using local landmarks, this tour highlights the contrasting experiences of Deptford's pre and post Windrush populations.
Starting at 439 New Cross Road (the site of the 1981 New Cross Fire), this walk of 1hr 15 minutes will also take in the presence of Black seafarers and their families in the 1800s and 1900s as well as the rise in community organisation after 1948. Sites include Deptford High Street, Deptford Broadway and Brookmill Road.
