About Good Growth in Angel Edmonton

Explore a collection of award-winning spaces for culture, play and work, developed in partnership with the community of Edmonton to steward positive change in an area that faces significant challenges and future growth.

Led by Enfield Council with the support of the Greater London Authority’s Good Growth Fund, the programme was designed by Jan Kattein Architects along with locally based Fisher Cheng Architects and delivered by local businesses including Nico Construction, Sullivan Brothers and Bloqs:

Fore Street Living Room Library

The retrofit of a well loved library into a vibrant local community space to support community and cultural programming. Fabricated locally at Bloqs and Winner of Creative Retrofit - The Pineapples Awards 2023.

Angel Yard

The transformation of a set of derelict garages into 35 affordable work spaces for community and young enterprise, run by Launch It charity.

Angel Edmonton Artworks

An extensive programme of public art connecting the high street to the wider community and the Lee Valley, led by local community organisation REACT and delivered by Wood Street Walls.

Grove Street

A new school street to improve air quality, encourage imaginative play and engagement with nature at the local primary school St John & St James Primary School.

@ Angel Yard

Angel Yard will be opening its doors for visitors to see the award winning space, meet businesses, enjoy art exhibitions, food and drink and live music.

Jan Kattein architects, will host 3 guided tours of the Angel Edmonton projects starting at Angel Yard. Come and meet us at 11am, 1pm or 3pm for a fun 1h tour.

The day will also mark the workspace’s official opening so please join us for the ribbon cutting with some music and refreshments @ 4PM with the representatives of Enfield Council, the GLA, the construction contractors, the architects, the local residents that made this project possible.

@ Fore Street Living Room Library

Local community organisation Fore Street For All presents 'Faith in Industry' at the Fore Street Living Room Library. The event explores the rich industry of Angel Edmonton past & present, unearthing its fascinating history, whilst looking at how the industrial landscape has changed over the past 150 years to welcome new businesses catering to emerging communities.

The event will include an exhibition of artefacts & objects from local industries, poetry, recipe sharing, and a textiles workshop for visitors to learn embroidery and design their own Edmonton Industrial Coat of Arms.

Angel Edmonton Public Art & Poetry Trail

Explore Angel Edmonton’s public art and poetry trail on a self guided tour, including Fore Street Murals delivered as part of the Good Growth Fund, the Our River Lea Poetry Trail which celebrates local poet Keith Mowatt's memories of growing up around the River Lea, as well as the recently installed artworks on shutters and council litter bins as part of the Fore Street Open All Hours Gallery.

The UK’s first open-access factory, Bloqs will host a very special open weekend featuring bespoke tours around the workshop and interactive courses - including the opportunity to make your own pizza cutter. Visitors can also enjoy machine demos, an exhibition showcasing works and designs by Bloqs’ vibrant Members community, the debut of Chickenshed’s new musical theatre piece, ‘Wooly Mammoths of Enfield’, plus delicious food and drinks provided by the incredible team at Bloqs Kitchen.
