This walking tour will celebrate the women of Bow and Bethnal Green – from the match makers of the Bryant and May factory to the Quinn Square rent strikers – looking at how, through their activism, they were able to change the built environment.

History

We will be looking at approximately a hundred years of East End history from the Match women's strike of 1888 to the campaigning work of the Bengali Housing Group Association via the East End Federation of Suffragettes and the Quinn Square rent strikes.
