Walk finishes in Tachbrook Street SW1V which is close to Vauxhall Bridge Road, going north 10 minutes walk to Victoria station
WC in pub at start of walk, toilets not en route as quite residential and open - cafes in last part of walk.Seating is occasional.
Quiet walk and relaxing except for the walk near Dolphin house where traffic can be noisy.
Apart from Thomas Cubitt’s squares and terraces you will be introduced to some architecturally iconic schemes of the 20th century created by the ground breaking public housing architectural practices of Powell and Moya and Darbourne and Darke, together with some key issues in the public housing movement.
The brilliant and somewhat forgotten post war writer and Observer architecture critic Iain Nairn lived in Pimlico and we will hear how he led a campaign about the importance of buildings in shaping society in positive ways. Pimlico has stunning stucco houses and garden squares, quaint churches and is an undiscovered part of London to explore in detail with us on this fascinating walk.

A Grade 2 listed former Territorial Army Drill Hall featuring restored elements of the original 1882 design. It has a triple height central hall with the restored wrought iron balconies and roofing. Notable Neo-Georgian design brickwork.
